WST Systemtechnik’s innovative GC Glue Control camera system for adhesive bound products is one of the most revolutionary new quality control items introduced at drupa. Within the print processing, the quality control of adhesive bound products ends at perfect binding. It does not matter how much effort was used to get here, a book not coffered completely with adhesive is falling apart, a nightmare for every bindery manager. 
The new GC Glue Control camera is mounted right after the spine glue application and can works with EVA, PVA, PUR, etc.). To absolutely avoid this source of error we support your processing by an especially developed camera based glue control system.The glue application is normally done by a nozzle system or a roller application technology. Due to e.g. clogged nozzles or blocked doctor knifes it cannot be excluded that the glue track breaks off, i.e. that a part of the spine is not glued. This leads in the end inevitably to detached book pages or even to a splitting of the whole product and thus to an increasing waste paper rate and at the worst to severe customer complaints.
 The concept: After the learning procedure, each glued product spine is optically checked by our GC camera head. The camera monitors the glue performance on each product back through dynamic reading from the distance. The GC monitor signals every gluing error to the operator and the machine. Furthermore, the faulty products are recorded and filed as picture files on a mass storage device. Due to its compact structure and high performance the GC glue control system can be quickly integrated in most of the customary perfect binders. The modules: Upgrading a perfect binder to the GC system can very easy and quickly be realized. Our GC camera monitoring system is mounted below a straight running binder clamp by means of an individual locating device. A high power WST central computer with special WST software is connected to the camera and is responsible for the evaluation of the incoming data and the control of the complete system. The setting of the system is made very easy by using just one operating button (turning and pressing) for the well arranged and user friendly menu navigation. 
The result: WST’s GC control system for perfect binders provides an optimum product monitoring of your orders as well as an increasing productivity and profit maximization. Upgrading this application with the image- and/or barcode-based WST control systems in the gathering machine, which is a part of the perfect binder, increases the quality of your production processes.
